San Juan, Puerto Rico has long been one of the Caribbean’s most vibrant tourist destinations, known for its nightlife, beachfront resorts, casino entertainment, and rich historic culture. Located at the eastern edge of Old San Juan, the waterfront area surrounding the historic piers has not kept pace with the revitalized districts to the north and west, leaving several piers as underutilized industrial sites.
This San Juan waterfront redevelopment project transforms these aging piers into a new mixed-use tourism and entertainment district, creating an important economic and cultural destination for both residents and visitors.
The development introduces a marina designed to attract the international mega-yacht community, while also enhancing the experience for cruise ship passengers visiting the city. The project includes a vibrant waterfront pedestrian promenade lined with specialty retail, restaurants, and sidewalk cafés that spill onto landscaped public plazas.
A signature destination restaurant overlooks the water, while a 210-room waterfront hotel extends outward from Pier 9, providing guests with sweeping 270-degree views of San Juan Harbor and the surrounding coastline. The hotel’s expansive amenities deck creates a unique waterfront hospitality experience.
Visitors will be drawn to the district not only for its diverse mix of retail, dining, and entertainment, but also for its beautiful waterfront park and state-of-the-art marina facilities, establishing the San Juan waterfront as a premier destination within the Caribbean.
Through the integration of marina infrastructure, hospitality development, and vibrant public waterfront spaces, the project reimagines the historic piers as a dynamic new urban destination for San Juan.
