This custom beachfront residence in Sunset Beach Colony on Oahu’s North Shore was designed for an architect and his family as a relaxed coastal retreat inspired by the rhythm of island life. The main residence includes four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a covered porte cochere, providing convenient access while maintaining the home’s open and informal character.

The design emphasizes casual beach living and entertaining, with expansive lanais designed to host gatherings of ohana and friends. Inside, the main house features a spacious great room with hardwood floors, exposed beam ceilings, and large sliding pocket doors that open to the primary ocean-facing lanai.

Upper-level bedrooms and the primary suite capture sweeping views of the nearby surf breaks. A separate guest house includes its own great room, dining space, gourmet kitchen, and private bedroom.

A tropical garden courtyard and outdoor shower provide the perfect transition after surfing the world-famous Velzyland break directly in front of the home.
